Mark Reinhart

Mark has been an active participant in the arts for
close
to fifty
years. Starting out as an accordionist and moving on to the cornet and
trombone during his high school years, Mark's primary instrumental love
has been the guitar. He began his guitar studies at age twelve and has
continued pursuing all aspects and styles of both guitar performance
and instruction throughout his life. Studying privately with numerous
teachers, Mark formalized his musical education by attending Berklee
College of Music, Boston MA. He was fortunate to have studied guitar
with legendary musician/educator William G. Leavitt during his time at
Berklee. Mark has continued his affiliation with the college working
with the Department of Admissions in the capacity of Alumni
Representative, representing the college at music educator conferences,
college fairs, and various jazz-band festivals and trade shows. Piano
was added to his list of instruments; studying for an unfortunately
brief time with pianist/composer John Scully. Performance has played an
important part in Mark's career working as a soloist and with numerous
bands in the continental United States and Puerto Rico, the most
notable of which was his 26 year affiliation with 'Jay Black and the
Americans.' Mark has owned and operated the Reinhart Studio since 1989,
offering private instruction an all facets of guitar, piano, and music
theory related instruction. His book on art and teaching, 'Tune Up
You're on in Ten Minutes!' was published in 2004.
In addition to his extensive musical background
Mark has been a
teacher/practitioner of the Chinese Healing and martial arts for the
past forty years. He holds a master's degree in Medical Qigong and
several certifications in Chinese herbal medicine. Mark is an acting
member of the Board of Directors of the National Qigong Association and
is a regular presenter at the national conferences. He teaches and
lectures extensively on the incorporation of the Classical and
Traditional Chinese approaches to health and well-being especially when
it comes to optimizing the overall performance of musicians. For more

Sarah Gardner
Vocal Instructor

Sarah Gardner's
(soprano) portrayal of the title role in Puccini's Suor Angelica
was noted for its "sunlit soprano and poignant phrasing" by Donald
Rosenberg of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Her other opera credits
include Lady Billows (Albert Herring), Mother (Hansel and Gretel) and
Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte) and scenes as Leonora (La forza del
destino), Salome (Hérodiade), Leonore (Fidelio), Tosca (Tosca),
Magda (The Consul), Abigail Williams (The Crucible) and Alice Ford
(Falstaff).
Most recently, Ms. Gardner was named a semi-finalist in the 2010
National Orpheus Competition. She also recently took 2nd place in
the
Columbus Italian-American Vocal Competition, 1st place in the 2009
Buckeye Chapter NATS Competition, 2nd place in the 2009 Great Lakes
Regional NATS Competition and was the 2008 winner of the Akron Symphony
Orchestra John MacDonald Vocal Competition. At the Buckeye NATS
competition she also won the Richard Miller Award for Fine
Singing.
Mr. Miller asked that when choosing the recipient of this award that,
"the goal should be to strive for musicianship, technique and
artistry. The Buckeye NATS award is chosen on a proper balance
among
these essential areas." Ms. Gardner completed her Master of Music
degree in 2009 at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage
of Mary Schiller and her Bachelor of Music in 2006, having studied at
both the New England Conservatory of Music and Georgia State University
under Sharon Stephenson and Mark Pearson, respectively. Ms.
Gardner
currently resides in Northeast Pennsylvania where she has begun studies
with Sharon Sweet in Princeton, NJ. |

Andrew
Bennett
Trombone Instructor

Andrew Bennett is an instrumental music
educator in the Western New
York Area with an applied instrument of trombone. He holds Bachelor's
Degrees in Music Education and Music Performance from SUNY Fredonia,
and is currently attending Ithaca College as a graduate teaching
assistant. His musical journey has taken him throughout the north east
and on a performing tour of China. As a conductor, he has directed such
diverse groups as Wind Ensembles, German Brass Bands, and Bell Choirs.

Corey Durham
Baritone/Tuba Instructor - Week One Only
|
|
|
Corey Durham has performed in various venues
including Disneyworld, Disneyland, Raymond James Stadium, the
Alamodome, the Rose Bowl, the Citrus Bowl, Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music, and the University of Arizona. At
Penn State, Corey has played in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphonic
Band, Campus Band, Tuba Euphonium ensemble, various chamber ensembles,
and was a member of the Blue Band for four years. In 2008 and
2010, The Penn State Tuba Euphonium Ensemble performed a recital at the
International Tuba Euphonium Conference. In February 2009, he
played with the Penn State Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Verizon Hall in
Philadelphia. He will instruct a weekly class coaching the
first-year members of the Penn State Tuba and Euphonium studio for the
2010-2011 school year. Corey is a euphonium and tuba performance
major at Penn State. |

Amanda Bee
Trumpet Instructor

|
Amanda Bee is currently a Music Education major at the
Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a focus on trumpet and a minor
in piano. This is her first summer as a trumpet instructor at
Ferrwood Music Camp. She has been involved in music for fifteen
years, participating in local choirs, musicals, and community bands in
her area. Additionally, Amanda has participated in her high
school’s concert band, jazz band, marching band, musical
productions, and select vocal ensembles. Throughout her college
career, she has played in ensembles including IUP’s concert band,
symphony band, marching band, and trumpet ensemble. She performed
at the 2009 International Trumpet Guild conference with the IUP trumpet
ensemble. Amanda is also an active sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, an
international women’s music fraternity.

Wil Brumbach
Full-time Guitar Instructor

|
Wil Brumbach is currently a Senior at the University of Maryland
- College Park as a double major in Music Education and Jazz Guitar
Performance. Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, Wil has
participated in a variety of musical venues from restaurants and clubs
to musicals and Smithsonian performances playing everywhere from Gerald
Veasley's Jazz Base to the 9:30 Club in DC. Wil studies jazz and
classical guitar and is known for his versaility in many musical
styles. He has won various jazz solo awards and had the has studied
with Jazz Legend and guitar virtuoso Pat Martino as well as Washington
D.Cs Gerry Kunkel. He has recorded with two rock bands as rhythm
guitarist and lead guitarist, LMG, based in the Philadelphia area and
is currently performing in the Washington, DC club scene with The
Bang(www.myspace.com/thebangonline. Wil also writes and records his own
music and is currently producing a solo album, which will hopefully be
released late 2010. |

Dan Styslinger
Boys' Counselor / Nighttime Guitar Instructor

| Dan Styslinger began his musical
career playing trumpet at the age of 10 in his elementary school band
program. His interest in music began to rapidly increase and soon he
taught himself to play the piano and guitar, as well as numerous other
instruments. While in high school, Dan became interested in playing
jazz. He was a member of his high school jazz band all four years
playing trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, and drums. He also excelled in
the school's symphony band and marching band. During his senior year in
high school he held the position of drum major of the marching band and
was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for his jazz piano
technique. Upon graduating high school, Dan attended Penn State New
Kensington and gave guitar lessons on the side. After a year at Penn
State, Dan transferred to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where
he is studying classical guitar under Irvin Kaufman. |

Megan Jones
Girls' Counselor /
Oboe Instructor
|
|
Megan is a graduate from the Forest City Regional and currently
attends Mansfield University. Here she is perusing dual degrees, a B.M.
in Music Education and Music Performance. Throughout high school she
played in the Marywood University Wind Ensemble for six years on
piccolo and played in the Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra for three
years on principle oboe. She also made Regional Band and Orchestra
for three years and placed first in All State Orchestra and
Concert Band for two years. Now in college, she plays in the Mansfield
University Wind Ensemble on co-principle oboe and english horn. She
also plays oboe in the Mansfield Orchestra. At Mansfield she plays
flute in a jazz trio. She started playing flute ten years ago and
studying under Edward Protsman, and four years under Richard Swartz.
Four years ago she began oboe lessons, studying under Tom Heinze. Megan
is also a member of PMEA and MENC, Tau Beta Sigma, The Mansfield Double
Reed Society, Chamber Music Society, and Festival Chorus. Megan also
teaches lessons privately. This will be her second year returning to
Ferrwood as an oboe teacher and girls' counselor. |
Dana Barrett
French Horn Instructor - Week 2 Only |

Originally from the Rochester area, Dana is a music educator and
performer with specialties in french horn and the highland bagpipes.
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the
Fredonia School of Music in 2009, she currently is continuing her
education as the Horn Graduate Assistant at Ithaca College. With a
passion for her Scottish heritage, Dana has been a member of the Gates
Keystone Club Police Pipes and Drums as well as the Rochester Scottish
Pipes and Drums where she has performed in various parades, memorials,
and highland gatherings throughout New York State. Her love for nature,
music, and people have brought her to Ferrwood Camp where she is
excited to spend a portion of her summer making music. |
Matt Haydt
Violin/Cello
Instructor

| Matt Haydt joined the faculty at Ferrwood
Music Camp in 2009, when he taught violin for Week 2 of camp. He has
played violin for 18 years, having played and performed in many musical
styles and settings (classical, to bluegrass, rock, and avant-garde).
Orchestras he has played in include the Pennsylvania State University
Philharmonic Orchestra, PSU Chamber Orchestra, Mansfield University
Orchestra, and Old York Road Symphony Orchestra. Theatre groups he has
performed with include the Alpha-Omega Players in Reading, PA as well
as the State College Community Theatre, at the Boal-Barn playhouse. He
has performed as soloist in recitals and concerts, as well as lead
fiddle in the acoustic band Big Ben &the Working Men. He also plays
electric bass in the alternative band The Afterburners. Matt is
currently a string-instrumental music teacher in the School District of
Philadelphia, where he teaches over 150 students, in 5 schools,
including the Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, the premiere art’s
academy of the city’s North-east region. He teaches violin,
viola, cello, and bass lessons, in addition to orchestra rehearsals and
regular performances with 5 student orchestras. Matt Haydt is also a veteran of the
US Army, having served from 2002-2008 as an active member of the PA
Army National Guard, with Alpha Company 1/111th Infantry Battalion,56th
BCT, 28th Division, and deployment to Iraq in 2004-2005. Matt served as
infantry team-leader, truck-commander, machine-gunner, and Stryker
driver. While in the Army, Matt earned the following awards, and
qualifications; Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal,
National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On
Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze
Mobilization M, Army Svc Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat
Infantryman's Badge, and Combat Lifesaver certification. |

Michaelina Trapane
Week One Violin Instructor

| Michaelina
Trapane is
presently a violin performance major at Berklee College of Music in
Boston, Massachusetts. Locally she has played with Bloomsburg
University Chamber and Symphony Orchestras and Schuylkill Symphony
Orchestra. She is in her fourth season playing with Twelve-Twenty Four,
a Trans-Siberian Orchestra tribute band. Since attending Berklee
College of Music, she has expanded her playing to not just classical,
but styles such as jazz and rock as well. In Boston she plays with the
Video Game Orchestra, the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, and
has been a part of productions put on by the Berklee Musical Theater
Club. |

Charise Zablotsky
Week Two Violin Instructor
|
| Charise Zablotsky is
currently a student at Marywood University pursuing a degree in violin
performance under the direction of local artist Sophie Till.
Miss Zablotsky is a Teacher's Assistant at Marywood for String Project,
where she teaches and conducts local string players. She recently has
been working with Ms. Till at Marywood University in teaching a new
approach of string playing through the Taubman technique. Miss
Zablotsky has been a member of the Marywood University Orchestra,
Temple University's Boyer School of Music Orchestra, Civic Orchestra,
and the Wyoming Seminary Performing Arts Institute summer orchestra.
Presently, she teaches students at Marywood University and at her
private studio. Miss Zablotsky has recently been featured as
concert mistress and soloist of the Marywood University Orchestra in
the Spring 2009 semester. She has plans to study with Enda Golandsky
this summer with the Golandsky Institute at Princeton University. |
Ron Lange
Double Bass Instructor - Week 2 Only

Ron
Lange is currently entering his senior year at Penn State University
pursuing a degree in double bass performance. He is a
member of the 2009 International Society of Bassists Convention-hosting
Penn State double bass studio under the direction of ISB
president-elect Rob Nairn. This past semester was spent studying
with John Moore of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Ron originally hails
from Mullica Hill, New Jersey, graduating from Clearview Regional High
School in 2005. Honors received in high school include the John
Philip Sousa Award as well as acceptance into the South Jersey
Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and All State Symphonic
Band. Ron has played with many ensembles at Penn State including
the Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Centre Dimensions
Jazz Band. He has recently performed with the Altoona Symphony,
Williamsport Symphony, Nittany Valley Symphony, and the Penn's
Woods Music Festival Orchestras. He can also be seen performing
at various jazz and blues gigs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. |
Louis Samuel Kugelman
Saxophone Instructor

Louis
Kugelman graduated from the Pennsylvania State
University
in May 2009
with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. During his time there,
Louis
studied saxophone with Dr. David Stambler. As an accomplished woodwind
doubler,
Louis has performed with many university, amateur, and professional
ensembles
on flute, clarinet, and saxophone. This summer you can hear him perform
with
the Hazleton Philharmonic, Wilkes University Civic Band, Upper
Schuylkill
Marching Band, and the HASD Faculty Saxophone Quartet. Louis currently
teaches
music at Drums
Elementary
Middle School
in Drums, PA and teaches instrumental lessons at the Demelfi School of
Music.

Deanna Loertscher
Saxophone
Instructor

Saxophonist Deanna Loertscher earned a dual Bachelor
degree in music education and saxophone performance from Ithaca College
and recently completed a Master’s degree in saxophone performance
from the Penn State University School of Music. She has performed and
participated at several North American Saxophone Alliance conferences,
Navy Band Symposiums, and in numerous master classes; most notably with
saxophone pedagogue Eugene Rousseau and the PRISM Saxophone Quartet.
Deanna has performed in Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, NYC, the
Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, extensively in Ireland, with the
Altoona, Ithaca College, and Penn State Philharmonic Symphony
Orchestras, and throughout Upstate New York. Deanna just completed an
appointment as the saxophone and music technology teaching assistant at
the Penn State, and is currently pursuing a public school music
teaching position in New York. |
Adam Price
Clarinet Instructor

Born and raised in rural
Pennsylvania to a musical family, Adam Price
quickly discovered his love for music. After periods at both Penn State
and New York Universities pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Clarinet
Performance, Adam was self-diagnosed with "wanderlust." The news didn't
come as too much of a shock, and he has learned to live with his
condition while continuing to grow and pursue his art. Always looking
for a challenge, Adam has experience playing in virtually every music
style from classical to jazz, and indie rock to interactive computer
music. He is an avid doubler as well. Adam was lucky enough to study
and perform in the cultural hubs of Florence, Italy, and New York City.
He currently resides in Virginia where he continues to freelance and
write for the music magazine, "Magazine 33." Some of his work can be

S.
Karina Barton was born in Dallas, Texas, raised in Austin, Texas but
calls Tyler, Texas her home. She graduated from Georgetown High School
in 2004, attended Tyler Junior College then transferred to The
Pennsylvania State University where she is currently pursuing a
Bachelors degree in Music Education. She has played flute and piccolo
for over 11 years and is currently studying in the flute studio of Dr.
Eleanor Armstrong. Over the past two years she has performed in
numerous ensembles through the Penn State School of Music including
Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Philharmonic Orchestra,
Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra Pit, Blue Band, and The Flute
Ensemble. During her middle school and high school years she
participated in the Texas Music Educators Association Festivals and won
many district, region and state awards. Karina has been a member of the
Texas Flute Society for four years and before moving to Pennsylvania,
she taught private flute lessons in the Austin area and in the
Tyler/Brownsboro Independent School District. She enjoys working with
all age groups. This summer, she is caring for several children ranging
from 9 months to 14 years old during week days and volunteering at
local senior centers and assisted living homes on the weekends. |
Amanda Frisch

Amanda Frisch just recently graduated from The
Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Music Education. She ha
been playing the flute for 12 years and while at Penn State, she
studied flute under the instruction of Dr. Eleanor Armstrong. She
participated in multiple School of Music ensembles including, Symphonic
Band, Oriana Singers, and the Flute Ensemble. Amanda also played in the
pit orchestra for many Penn State Thespian shows including Footloose
and Bare. She has had been teaching private flute lessons for the past
three summers in the Philadelphia area to children from beginner level
to intermediate. Amanda hopes to be teaching music in a middle school
of elementary school in the up coming fall and is excited to part of
Ferrwood Staff this summer! |

Casey
Beggs
Percussion
Instructor - Week 1 Only

Casey is currently a senior in the West Chester University
School of Music and is pursuing dual degrees in both Music Education
and Music Performance in percussion studies. Aside from being a
full time student, Casey is also an active educator, arranger, and
performer in the Chester County area. Casey is the front ensemble
caption head with the 2007 USSBA Group IV PA Champions, Downingtown
West High School, and the 2006 USSBA Group I National Champions, Rustin
High School. In the winter, Casey writes for and instructs the
2008 MAPS runner-up champions, the Downingtown Indoor Drumline. As a
performer, Casey has had a varied career including 3 year principal
percussionist with the WCU Wind Ensemble, cast member of “Trash
Time!” the 2006 International Association for Amusement Parks and
Attractions “Big E” winner for best stage show in an
amusement park, and recording work varying from commercial recording
with NFL films Promotional Recordings for Northeastern Music
Publishing's 2008 Concert Band Catalog. In addition, Casey
remains an active freelancer and camp clinician in the Chester County
area. |

Anthony
Tenaglia
Percussion
Instructor - Week 2 Only

Anthony is currently a
junior at West Chester University and pursing a bachelors degree in
music education and performance. Anthony has been involved with
percussion for 11 years and some of the local groups in the
Philadelphia and South Jersey area that he has played with include the
2005 District 11 band, 2005 Bucks County orchestra, Bucks County
Community College orchestra, Delaware Valley Symphony, and the Atlantic
Brass Band. Anthony is also involved with the marching percussion
activity as well. In 2006 he joined the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corp
and this past winter was apart of the The W.G.I. Independent World
Percussion group "United Percussion." Along with performing, Anthony
has been an instructor for many high school drumlines in Philadelphia
and South Jersey area. Anthony is very grateful to have studied with
his great teachers and mentors Dr. Alan Kinsey, Mark Pultorak,
Justin Leigh, Darren Metz, Mike Nevin, Dr. Chris Hanning, and Ralph
Sorrentino. |

Jeff Hatcher
Percussion Instructor

Jeff Hatcher is a creative and well-rounded
jazz percussionist from the small town of Bakersfield, California. He
currently resides in New York City where he is pursuing his
bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies at New York University. His
understanding of music comes from his studies under a variety of
accomplished musicians including Tony Moreno, Andy Milne, Mike
Richmond, Dave Pietro, Robert Dick, John Scofield, and Billy Drewes.
Jeff works as a freelance musician in and around New York City and has
performed across the globe at notable venues including Catalina’s
Jazz Club in Hollywood, CA and the Blue Note in Milan, Italy.
